Buying a Used Vehicle
Before You Buy
- Determine what vehicle is right for you.
- Calculate how much you can afford.
- Research the vehicle's fair market value.
- Read consumer reviews from people who own the same vehicle.
- Shop around for the best price and service.
During the Transaction
- Test drive the vehicle.
- Have it inspected by a mechanic.
- Compare the mileage on the title with the vehicle's odometer
reading.
- Ask for a vehicle history report and maintenance records.
- If buying from a dealer, read the Buyers Guide. It must tell you
if the vehicle is under warranty or being sold "as-is."
- Trust your instincts. If you have any doubts about the vehicle
or the seller, don't buy.
