Vehicle shows and displays are a component of the motor vehicle distribution industry. Whether the display is a single vehicle at an airport or mall, or a regional event, licensees must obtain permission from the Motor Vehicle Division to display vehicles away from their licensed locations. There is no fee. Application must be made at least 30 days before the display or event begins. Shows and displays are governed by Occupations Code §2301.358 and Transportation Code §503.003.

In general, off-site sales are against the law. The Self-Authorization form may be used to request permission to participate in shows where sales are not allowed or for static displays (such as an airport or mall).

Under certain conditions, specific types of vehicles may be sold at specific types of shows. Licensees and promoters may use the forms for Vehicle Shows Where Sales Are Allowed.
