Revoked (Cancelled) Texas Titles
A Texas title may be revoked if it was issued incorrectly. Examples of incorrectly issued titles include those issued without a proper value limiting remark ("brand") such as salvage, nonrepairable or flood damaged. The brand may be missing due to a data entry error, or as a result of "title washing", which is a fraudulent process through which a vehicle's title is altered to remove brand information. A vehicle with a "Nonrepairable" title or similar brand can only be used for parts or scrap metal.
If a title was issued without a salvage brand, the registration may still be valid. However, if a title is revoked because the vehicle is nonrepairable, the registration is not valid. A nonrepairable vehicle is one that has been damaged to the extent that it is considered unsafe and can only be utilized for parts or scrap metal. A nonrepairable vehicle may not receive a clean title.
A vehicle with a "Title Revoked" remark showing on its record cannot be sold or transferred until the title is corrected.
